Encouraging healthy eating habits through automatic vending machines
Vending is used increasingly in daily eating at work, in schools, hospitals and other communities. Not only for coffee breaks or snacks, but also as a replacement for lunch. The Pausa Consapevole project, organized by Quality Group, a group of automatic vending machine distributors togther with national and local partners, aimed at harnessing the potential, in terms of social and ethical communication, of spaces dedicated to automatic vending, using different tools to disseminate healthy eating habits and lifestyles. Alternative choices were promoted in the vending machines, such as organic and fairtrade products. Finally, by monitoring the types of food chosen at the vending machines, useful data was collected on the eating choices of users and on how to influence them in a positive way.
